School Priorities 2025-2026

year 1 fruit(1)

Our school priorities very much focus around our vision, with our targets linking back to supporting all pupils ‘…… fulfilling their full potential and achieving their dreams and aspirations.’ Central, is the importance of the whole child, helping them to grow in ‘Heart, Mind & Spirit.’

Leadership and Management

  • To continue to develop and support new members/leadership roles within the governing body.
  • To further enhance the impact of middle leaders within the school, through providing bespoke CPD opportunities, as well as ensuring greater accountability.
  • Continue to promote partnership working (within the Federation) to support St. James and FWSG in all areas such as: Financial, Professional Learning, Peer to peer support and quality of teaching and learning.
  • To strategically plan for future growth and sustainability as a school and federation.

Behaviour & Attitudes

  • Continue to monitor and develop our safeguarding provision, procedure and practice across the school.
  • To re-establish routines and consistency in relation to structures, practices and policy linking to behaviour.
  • To continue to support teachers in how to adapt behaviour management strategies to meet individual needs (SEND) based on evidence and pedagogy.
  • To investigate the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) to support both staff and pupils within the school community (linking to teacher workload and well-being)
  • To target specific groups of parents using the  Reflective Parenting Programme in order to engage a wider range of parents and carers.

Quality of Education (Intent, Implementation & Impact)

  • In some areas the curriculum is overloaded with content. This affects how well pupils learn and remember what they are taught. Leaders need to refine further the essential content in some foundation subjects so that pupils learn and remember even more. (OFSTED)
  • The computing curriculum is underdeveloped. Pupils’ understanding in this subject is inconsistent. Leaders should ensure that the curriculum programme for computing is strengthened so that pupils have more effective opportunities to build their knowledge and skills securely over time. (OFSTED)
  • To have a whole school focus on developing writing from transcription to composition.
  • To ensure that in year (admissions) starters in Reception and Year 1 are immediately targeted for phonics intervention.
  • To explore and introduce a new approach to the teaching of maths across the school.
  • To develop and implement robust baseline assessment processes and establish a structured induction programme for new EAL learners.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Share with other schools, the excellent work that has been developed around supporting strong mental health and wellbeing for pupils and adults within the school community to enrich the lives of others. (SIAMS target).
  • To further enhance how we  live out the schools vision and values to impact on all areas of school life. (SIAMS SEF IQ1)
  • Further build on the themes of  justice and responsibility and grow an awareness of the wider world evidencing through achieving the Global Neighbours accreditation.
  • Implement the new Climate action plan and build on our goal as a fully sustainable school. (SIAMS SEF IQ5)

Early Years Development

  • To increase the percentage of pupils in Reception reaching GLD.
  • To continue to increase opportunities to enhance pupils' language and vocabulary development through implementing the newly introduced guidelines in September 2025.
  • To have a continued focus on providing early intervention for pupils with SEND to ensure they make the best possible progress from their starting points.
  • To support a targeted group of EHCP pupils across the Early Years through an increasingly structured programme of group and 1-1 intervention.
  • To further develop the EYFS leader to undertake additional responsibilities across the Federation.
  • To continue to develop our Nursery provision, in order that all pupils are school-ready for September 2026.
